Kas

We made to Kas (pronounced Kash) on time. It is a small town on the Mediterranean, across from the Greek Island of Meis. Very picturesque. Green-blue water, extending as far as the eyes can see.

We drove around for about 30 minutes before we found our hotel, located on a peninsula.

A small hotel, large sized pool. The first order of business after checking in is to check out the pool.

Being a very hot day, this was good respite for all. And thanks for life-vest, you can let the children float, and not be worried that they would drown in excitement.

Chizor playing dress up at a fabric shop. Someone (not her!) has to pay for this.

 Spices of every imagination

Statue of Ataturk, the founder of Turkey, in Kas.

There are Ataturk statues, monuments, streets, etc,in virtually every town and city in Turkey.  A very remarkable, yet complex man, whose vision is responsible for this country and its future. Among his many notable accomplishments: Abolished the caliphate; established the Turkey civil code; implemented new alphabet for the Turkish language changing it from Arabic to Latin; ordered and produced the first Koran in Turkish; banned wearing of veils by women in government offices; banned compulsory religious indoctrination until pupil is is college; granted full political rights to women;  separated Islamic law from civil law, and limiting the former only to religious matters; He died in 1938. All these and more he did within 15 years. In his will, he bequeathed all his assets to charitable causes and the interest there from for education of his and his successor's children

Then we attempted the "beach", which is within 5 minutes walk down from the hotel. It is very rocky; the water choppy; and we were not up to it.

Surprise to us was that the hotel was "half board." We had no clue, and thanks to internet, realized that our stay came with breakfast and dinner. Good money and savings. And no need to drive out to dinner.
