Singapore - Getting There, Our First Day: March 16/17 - March 18

We boarded the Singapore Airlines flight and we settled in for the 17 hour flight. The flight started in San Francisco at 10:05 A.M, arrived in Singapore at 7:30 P.M. the next day. The flight was nice, complete with movies, TV shows, games, sleep, and food. We got off the plane and we knew that Singapore was 13 hours ahead of Minnesota. The time zone/day difference can be disorienting. For instance, when it is 12:00am-1:00pm, Minnesota is still in the previous day at night so we have to be careful when talking to people over there about the timing. We claimed our baggage at baggage claim and got through immigration successfully.

We changed some money into local currency and got bus and train cards, a SIM card in a phone, and tickets for the Singapore zoo, night safari, and the cable cars. After going over the train map, we caught a train and rode over to the hotel.

We checked into the Marina Bay Sands hotel and realized we were in tower 3 - the furthest tower- so we trekked over to the tower and pushed in level 32.
Once we got into our room, we put in a card for the lights and the lights turned on and the curtains slid open revealing a beautiful city scape. We put our things away and used the elevator to get to the roof top infinity pool on the 57th floor. We looked at it and decided we would go in the morning when it wouldn't be as busy and went back to the hotel room and fell asleep.

The next morning we went to the Rice Breakfast Buffet on the 1st floor. It was slightly expensive, but we decided we simply wouldn't have lunch. We all stuffed ourselves eating fruit, bacon, pancakes, bread, sausage, hash browns, dumplings and more. We went back to the hotel room and mom and dad went to go drop the laundry at the laundromat. Once they came back we went by train and bus o the Singapore zoo.

We rode the bus and once we arrived at the zoo, we got our tickets and explored the zoo. It was a hot day but it was really fun. We saw orangutans, white rhinoceroses, baboons, zebras, lions, leopards, a wildebeest, and much, much more. We even saw an elephant show!

We had a lot of fun exploring the zoo, but then it came to a close. It was night in Minnesota so when we got on the bus, some of us fell right asleep. Once we got back to the hotel, we all took a nap. We decided that we wouldn't get dinner because we were all too sleepy. We all slept until morning.
