Penang Malaysia

After going through the airport in Langkawi, we fly to Georgetown, Penang. The flight takes about an hour. After a 40 minute taxi ride, we arrive at the Yeng Keng Hotel. The hotel has a Chinese style entrance which really makes it distinctive along the block.

At check-in, we were offered nutmeg juice, which it turns out is similar to Coca-Cola, without the acid.
After a while we took walk to get food. The Sun was really hot considering we were not used to feeling that much heat in a while. The place we ate lunch had only two options: Noodle soup and rice. After eating we returned to the hotel, until dinner.

George Town is famous for its street arts. Painted by Ernest Zacharevic, some of these painting are iconic and tell the story of the city. We tried to see all of the major pieces.

George Town is a UNESCO world heritage city; so designated because of the harmonious relationship between the major religions. We also visited the major religious institutions in the city, located within less than a mile from each other.

The clan houses in George Town help define the history of the city and its Chinese Immigrants. It serves as community union centers for immigrants from different Chinese villages or regions. Over the years, they grew to be very influential in the business and economic development of the town.
